CA Final Result: How to Check It, Pass Percentage and Toppers

This guide covers the Final level only. For Intermediate, see the CA Intermediate result guide.

CA Final pass percentage and toppers

ICAI's press release on result day gives the pass percentage for each group and the top three ranks, and its Annexure A gives the number of candidates who qualified as chartered accountants. These are the figures for the three most recent sessions:

"Qualified as CAs" is the number of candidates who, in ICAI's words, "qualified as Chartered Accountants" with that result; it is larger than the both-groups figure because passing your last remaining group also completes the Final (Regulation 38D).

Toppers in May 2026

In January 2026 the first rank went to Diksha Goyal of Karnal (486 out of 600, 81%). In September 2025 the first rank went to Mukund Agiwal of Dhamnod (500 marks, 83.33%).

When the next CA Final result is due

From the May 2026 exam onwards, CA Final exams are held twice a year, in May and November (ICAI announcement, 6 April 2026). The November 2026 exam is on 2, 4 and 6 November (Group I) and 9, 11 and 13 November (Group II), according to ICAI's announcement of 2 May 2026. ICAI's guidance notes for that exam say the result "is likely to be declared in the month of December 2026/January 2027"; watch icai.org for the exact date. How to check your CA Final result

ICAI published the May 2026 Final result on caresults.icai.org; its guidance notes for November 2026 say results will be hosted on icai.nic.in. Use the link ICAI gives on result day.

1. Open caresults.icai.org or icai.nic.in.
2. Under "Check results", click Final for your exam session.
3. Enter your 6-digit roll number and your registration number.
4. Type the text shown in the box and click Submit.
5. Save or print the page that shows your result and marks.

The result form asks for both numbers and has no search by name. Your registration number is printed on your admit card; ICAI's guidance notes ask candidates to check it when they print the card from eservices.icai.org.

Statement of marks and pass certificate

The online result shows your result with "the details of marks", in ICAI's words. ICAI then issues these documents (Guidance Notes for Final, November 2026):

• Statement of marks: sent by post within 4–5 weeks of the result. If it has not arrived by then, write to dms_examhelpline@icai.in.
• Pass certificate: issued within 60 days to candidates who pass both groups, together or one at a time. If it has not arrived within 8 weeks, write to the same address.
• Distinction: if you pass the Final at one sitting with at least 70% of the total marks, the pass certificate says you passed with distinction.
• No improvement attempts: you cannot reappear in a group you have already passed.

ICAI also launched a DigiLocker facility for students and members in December 2020, covering documents such as pass certificates and mark sheets (ICAI press release, 23 December 2020).

When we checked on 6 October 2026, ICAI's result site listed only the May 2026 results. For an older result, use your statement of marks or DigiLocker, or apply for a duplicate on the Self Service Portal (eservices.icai.org → Post Examination Services). A duplicate mark sheet costs ₹100 and a duplicate pass certificate ₹200, plus ₹40 postage per application. A duplicate pass certificate also needs an affidavit on stamp paper sent by speed post, and ICAI issues duplicates within 21 working days of a complete request (ICAI procedure page, updated 9 July 2024).

Passing marks for CA Final

The Final has six papers of 100 marks each, three in each group (ICAI FAQs, Q 4.3). Under Regulation 38D, as quoted in the November 2026 guidance notes:

• One group: at least 40% in each paper of the group and 50% in the group's aggregate, at one sitting. For Group I (Financial Reporting, Advanced Financial Management, and Advanced Auditing, Assurance and Professional Ethics), that means at least 40 in each paper and 150 out of 300 in total.
• Both groups at once: at least 40% in each of the six papers, and either 50% in the aggregate of each group or 50% (300 out of 600) across both groups taken together.
• Different sittings: you can pass the two groups separately.

If you appear in all papers of a group and fail it, any paper in which you scored 60% or more is exempt for the next three exams. You then need 40% in each remaining paper and 50% in the group's aggregate, counting the exempted paper. If you still have not passed the group after those three exams, you may choose to keep the exemption, but you then need at least 50% in each remaining paper of that group (ICAI FAQs, Q 4.11). Merit list and rank certificates

The merit list is on the same result site: under "Check merit list", click Final and enter your roll number. Under ICAI's guidance notes, you get a rank certificate only if you:

• passed the exam in one sitting;
• did not use an exemption in any paper; and
• scored at least 55% in aggregate.

Rank certificates are issued up to the 50th rank on an all-India basis and are sent to ICAI's regional offices for distribution.

Verification of marks

Verification is not a re-evaluation. ICAI checks that your answer book is complete, that every answer was marked, and that the marks were totalled and carried to the cover page correctly (ICAI FAQs on verification of marks, 2019). The guidance notes state that "there is no provision for revaluation of papers".

• How to apply: through your dashboard on the Self Service Portal (eservices.icai.org), within a month of the result, paying the fee online. ICAI does not accept paper applications.
• Fee: ₹50 per paper. ICAI cut it from ₹100 for applications after the January 2026 results (announcement, 18 December 2025).
• Example: for the May 2026 Final, the window for both verification and certified copies ran from 19 June to 17 July 2026.
• Outcome: your marks may stay the same, go up or go down. ICAI writes to you with a revised statement of marks only if they change (ICAI FAQs on verification of marks, 2019).

Certified copies of answer books

You can also get copies of your evaluated answer books:

• How to apply: on your Self Service Portal dashboard within 30 days of the result. Paper applications are not accepted.
• Fee: ₹100 per paper, down from ₹500 (announcement, 18 December 2025).
• Delivery: ICAI emails scanned copies to the address you gave in your exam form.

You don't need a separate verification application for the same papers: ICAI verifies answer books on its own before sending certified copies (ICAI FAQs on verification of marks, 2019). If a copy still shows a discrepancy of the kind verification covers, such as an unmarked answer or a totalling error, report it by email within one month of the date ICAI sent the copies. ICAI's discrepancy report format gives the address for Final candidates as final_abc@icai.in.

What to do after the CA Final result

• Passed both groups: the next step is to apply for membership of ICAI; you qualify as a chartered accountant once admitted (ICAI Prospectus). ICAI hands over Certificates of Membership at convocations held twice a year; at the one on 12 September 2026, 8,964 new members received them. If you appeared in a CA Final exam up to May 2024, ICAI lets you qualify Self-Paced Online Modules SET A and SET B before applying for membership (ICAI FAQs, Q 7.13). • Passed one group: apply for the remaining group in a later session, in May or November.
• Failed a group but scored 60% or more in a paper: that paper stays exempt for the next three exams, so plan those attempts around the exemption rules above.
