CA Intermediate

After completing CA Foundation, CA Intermediate is the second level of examination held by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for the course of Chartered Accountant. Candidates wanting to pursue the career of Chartered Accountant in India have to register for CA Intermediate and clear the examination keeping in mind the guidelines provided by ICAI. 

 

CA Intermediate consists of two groups; group 1 and group 2 consisting of 4 papers each and 8 papers in total. A candidate is required to pass the examination for both groups individually or together, in order to complete this level. CA Intermediate exams are held twice a year, once in the month of May and once in the month of November. 

 

Eligibility Criteria: Who can apply for this course?

A candidate wanting to register for CA Intermediate must meet the following eligibility criteria.

  • Candidates who have passed the foundation exam or the professional education (examination -I ) or Common Proficiency Test (CPT) can apply for CA Intermediate
  • Candidates who are graduates or post-graduates in commerce and have scored a minimum of 55% marks can also apply
  • Candidates who are graduates or post-graduates in any other stream and have scored a minimum of 60% marks can also apply


Direct Entry: How to get direct entry into this course?

To be eligible for CA Intermediate level, a candidate has to clear the CA Foundation level. Candidates can also get direct entry to CA Intermediate level without sitting for the CA Foundation under the following conditions:

  • Candidates who have completed graduation or post-graduation in the commerce stream and have secured a minimum of 55% marks.  
  • Candidates who have completed graduation from any stream and have secured a minimum of 60% marks.
  • Candidates who have qualified CS Executive level from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICAI)
  • Candidates who have qualified CMA Intermediate level from the Institute of Cost and Management of India (ICMAI)


The Procedure of Admission: How to register for this course?

To take admission to CA Intermediate, a candidate has to register by filling out an application form, providing the requested documents, and paying the registration fee.

  2. Login with the credential sent to you
  3. Upload requested documents
  4. Pay the registration fee


Fee for Registration

The registration fee for the CA Intermediate exam is Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand Only) per appearance. (For Both Groups)

The registration fee for a single group is Rs.11,000/- (Rupees Eleven Thousand Only)

Additional fee structures may include:

  • Cost of foundation prospectus: Rs.200
  • Student’s Activities Fees

 

Important Dates for Registration

  • Last date to register for the May term 2022 examination: November 1st, 2021
  • Last date to register for the November term 2022 examination: March 1st, 2022

 

Syllabus for CA Intermediate

Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) 

After registering for CA Intermediate, candidates must successfully complete four weeks of ICITSS before the commencement of practical training. ICITSS consists of the following courses:

  • Course on Information Technology (15 days)
  • Orientation Course (15 days )

 

Passing Criteria

After giving the Intermediate exam, candidates can check the results once ICAI has announced them on their official website. A candidate must obtain 40% marks in each paper and 50% marks in aggregate to successfully pass this level and move to CA Final.
