CS Executive Registration: Steps, Documents, Fees and Last Dates

Two ways into CS Executive

CS Executive is the second stage of the CS course, with 7 papers in two groups. Our guide to the CS course lists the papers and the training that follows. Which registration link you use depends on how you qualify.

After passing CSEET

If you have passed CSEET, use "Registration For CSEET Pass Students IN Executive Programme". According to ICSI's Student Services FAQs (18 September 2026), a CSEET result is valid for one year from the date it is declared, and you must register for CS Executive within that year. Students who passed ICSI's old Foundation Programme are also exempt from CSEET and pay the same fee as CSEET passes. If you have not taken CSEET yet, our CSEET registration guide covers that step.

Direct admission, without CSEET

You can skip CSEET and use "Registration For Executive Programme (Direct)" if one of these applies to you (ICSI fee schedule and Student Services FAQs):

• you hold a bachelor's or master's degree in any subject;
• you have passed the ICAI Intermediate or ICMAI Final exams;
• you are in a recognised 5-year integrated programme and have passed its 6th semester;
• you are sitting your final-year or final-semester degree exams, or the 6th-semester exams of a 5-year integrated programme. In this case your registration is provisional, and you upload your admit card for those exams.

ICSI is not consistent about the CA condition: its restructured CSEET FAQs say "the Final Stage of CA", and the document list on the direct registration page asks for an "ICAI/ICMAI Final Pass Certificate". If you are relying on CA Intermediate, confirm it with ICSI before you pay.

Last dates to register for each exam session

CS Executive exams are held in June and December. Your registration date decides your first session. Under Regulation 35 of the Company Secretaries Regulations, 1982, a student needs six full calendar months between registering and the exam month to take both groups, and four to take one group. The regulation's own example is December: if you registered in May or earlier you can take both groups, and if you registered by July you can take one. Counting the same way for June gives these dates:

If you register after a cut-off, you sit the following session. The ₹250 late fee in ICSI's fee schedule is for late exam forms, not for late registration.

Registering close to a cut-off leaves little time before the exam form is due. You must finish the three-day orientation programme and pass the online pre-exam test before you enrol for the exams (see After you register below).

How to register online, step by step

ICSI does not accept downloaded or paper registration forms: you apply online only (ICSI Student Services FAQs, 18 September 2026). The steps below follow those FAQs and ICSI's registration pages:

1. Open www.icsi.edu and click Become a Company Secretary on the home page.
2. On the Become A CS page, choose Registration For CSEET Pass Students IN Executive Programme if you passed CSEET, or Registration For Executive Programme (Direct) for direct admission.
3. Read the instructions page that opens on ICSI's SMASH portal and keep soft copies of the documents listed below ready.
4. Go to the registration form, fill in your details and upload your documents.
5. Pay the fee by credit card, debit card, net banking or a bank challan at a Canara Bank branch.
6. Your user ID is created as soon as the payment goes through. This user ID is your registration number, and the system also generates a receipt.
7. Download your registration letter and identity card from ICSI's website. ICSI no longer sends them by post.

The Become A CS page also has a video of the registration process. You don't need to post hard copies of your documents unless ICSI asks for them for verification. If your registration shows as pending, a document is missing or the fee paid was short. ICSI e-mails you about it, and your registration is approved once you upload the document or pay the balance on SMASH. If you pay twice by mistake, write to ICSI's Directorate of Student Services at dss@icsi.edu for a refund of the extra amount.

Each file must be in JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP or PDF format and no larger than 2 MB.

CS Executive registration fee

You pay the registration fee once. Direct-admission students pay an extra ₹5,000 CSEET exemption fee:

ICSI gives fee concessions to some categories. SC/ST students get 50% off, and students with disabilities pay only the ₹2,000 registration fee. Some concessions apply only at Executive registration, including 50% for the economically weaker section (EWS certificate, family income up to ₹3 lakh) and for students from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and the North Eastern states. After you register

Three Days Orientation Programme (TDOP)

The TDOP is compulsory for everyone registered for CS Executive from 1 February 2025. ICSI's regional and chapter offices run it, so contact your nearest office for the schedule. According to ICSI's Directorate of Training, students registering from 1 January 2026 must complete it within 3 months of registration, and completing it is a prerequisite for filling in the exam form. Its fee is part of your registration fee.

Pre-exam test

Students under Syllabus 2022 must pass ICSI's online Pre-Exam Test before they can enrol for the main exams. The ₹1,000 test fee is included in your registration fee.

Study material

Once your documents are uploaded, ICSI sends the study material within 21 working days. Soft copies of the study material for each paper are also on ICSI's Executive Programme page.

Exam form and admit card

Registration does not enrol you for an exam. For each session, log in to SMASH, go to Module → Enrolment → Examination Enrolment Request, and pay the exam fee:

Registration validity

Your Executive registration is valid for five years from the month you register. If it expires, you can renew it through registration de novo: ₹2,000 within two years of expiry, or ₹3,000 up to five years after expiry (ICSI fee schedule, 29 September 2026). Once you pass both groups, the next step is CS Professional registration.
