CS Executive Module 1

CS Executive Module 1 consists of 4 papers that are to be attempted either individually or together with Module 2 (also consisting of 4 papers) depending upon a student’s preference or preparation. CS Executive exams are held twice in a year, once in the month of June and once in the month of December. The Institute of Company Secretaries of India is the professional body that holds the examination.

 

Eligibility Criteria for CS Executive Module 1

A candidate wanting to register for CS Executive module 1 examination must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Candidate must be 17 years old or above
  • He/she must have passed class 12th in any discipline except fine arts from a recognized board or university
  • He/she must have cleared CSEET held by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India
  • Graduates and Post Graduates who have also cleared CSEET held by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India can also apply

 

When and how to apply?

A Candidate is required to register himself for the course of CS Executive on the official website of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). For registration he/she will have to fill out an application form, upload required documents and pay a registration fee.

 

To register for CS Executive Module 1

  • Visit the official website of ICSI https://www.icsi.edu/home/
  • Click on “Online Services”
  • Choose “Register for CS Course”

 

Registration fee for CS Executive exam (Both Modules) is Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand Only) per appearance.

CS Executive Module 1 Subjects and Syllabus

CS Executive module 1 consists of 4 papers which are mentioned below along with topics to be covered and their weightage in the exam.

 

Paper 1: Jurisprudence, Interpretation and General Laws (One Part)

  • Constitution of India
  • Law of Torts
  • Interpretation of Statutes & Other General Laws

Paper 2: Company Laws

  • Part A: Company - Law, principles and Concepts 50%
  • Part B: Company Administration and Meetings - Law and Practices 40%
  • Part C: Company Secretary as a profession 10%

Paper 3: Setting up of Business Entities and Closure

  • Part A: Setting up of Business 40%
  • Part B: Registration, Licence & Compliances 35%
  • Part C: Insolvency, Liquidation & Closure of Business 25%

Paper 4: Tax Laws

  • Part A: Direct Taxes 50%
  • Part B: Indirect Taxes-Goods and Services Tax 50%

Oral Coaching

Any student pursing certification in CS, preparing for its courses, is required to undergo complete coaching for the respective course. Oral coaching refers to going to the institute for classes and pursuing your course. For his/her oral coaching, a student can take admission in regional council or chapter or any other recognized oral coaching center.

For the executive program, 35 classes of 2 hours for each subject are compulsory.

 

Computer Training and SIP

Within six months of registering for the executive program, candidates must undergo a 7-day Student Induction Programme (SIP). Also, students have to complete a 70-hour compulsory computer training program before enrolling for the executive program exams, including two days of induction, three days of e-governance, five days of skill development, and five days of entrepreneurship development.

 

Passing Criteria

After giving CS Executive exam, candidates can check results once ICSI has announced them on their official website. A candidate is required to obtain 40% marks in each paper and 50% marks in aggregate to successfully pass this level and move on to CS Professional.

 

After CS Executive Module 1

A student who has successfully cleared all 4 papers of CS Executive Module 1 in adherence to the passing criteria mentioned above, can appear in Module 2 in the forthcoming attempt and if he has already cleared CS Executive 2 as well, He gets entitled to get enrolled for CS Professional.
